A versatile actor with a gift for comedy, Matthew A. Schrader is a New York based actor who has thus far spent his career working professionally throughout NYC and Wisconsin. .
In 2011, Matthew had the honor of appearing in the world premiere of You've Ruined a Perfectly Good Mystery, a choose your own adventure play based on the stories of Sherlock Holmes. The play was presented in Madison, WI and later in New York City at the 2011 New York Fringe Festival. As "The Doctor", Matthew earned critical praise from NYTheatre.com, The Happiest Medium and The Artsy Fartsy Show for his gifts of timing and physical comedy. Since returning to New York in early 2013, Matthew has worked on the film The Real Mitches of New York, appeared on The Travel Channel's "Monumental Mysteries", performed with Gallery Players in their Black Box Festival, and traveled back to WI to play Henry Clay and Black Fox in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.
Matthew's flexible range has made him a sought after performer in the Midwest. His credits include satire, comedy, new works, classics, musicals, event hosting and television.
Favorite stage appearances include Tear Up The Front Page (James, World premiere and Midwest tour), Floyd Collins (Skeets Miller), Twelve Angry Men (Juror #4), Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story (Nathan Leopold, Wisconsin premiere), Help Wanted (World Premiere), Lone Star (Cletus T. Fullernoy), Lippa's Wild Party (Phil D'armano), A Little Night Music (Frid), Hamlet (Guildenstern), Observe The Sons of Ulster Marching Towards The Somme (Martin Crawford), The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 (Eddie McCuen), Hair (Woof), Kiss Me Kate (Ralph), and Rounding Third (Don). He has performed four times in the Madison, WI original comedy show Are We Delicious?
Matthew has also had the opportunity to appear on several web series, including the groundbreaking Hulu original series Battleground. Other web series credits include Chapel and Fall: A Series, as well as commercials and industrials. For five years, Matthew was a member of the improv comedy troupe The Rabid Badger, which presented original works across Wisconsin. Their sketch comedy show ran on WYOU for two years.
If nothing else, you would be hard pressed to find anyone who looks better in a bow tie.
